About This Blog…

Time goes on, as the old saying goes, and since man first discovered that, he has sought to measure it. From markings on cave walls drawn with charred sticks, to the sundial, to the clock, the pocket watch, the wrist watch and even the cell phone, human beings have always felt closely associated with time. How he or she chooses to measure its passage can be expressed in virtually unlimited ways. The focus of this blog is on one particular instrument of measurement; the wristwatch, which itself is expressed in untold varieties, styles and features. Some of these articles I have published elsewhere and bring over to this “one-stop shopping” blog but the vast majority will be new and original writing. Come and go on a journey of discovery into the world of chronometry and the measure of time….

  1. It is hard to believe that the first commercially available watch powered by battery was designed as early as 1957 – how could the battery have been small enough to fit into such a sleek looking watch at that period of time – the first battery powered mobile phones were such big clucky bricks and battery technology has developed only in the last 2-3 decades.

Also love the fact that my idol Elvis wore one of these watches and the brand now carries his name
